As 2021 came around, I realized that Kids in the Dark was growing old on me (it already got thrown into 90's and I didn't do a rematch of 94's!). With the primary top 94 out of the way, the rest of the competition was up for grabs. Hence, the battle arrives! Currently, the top … Continue reading 2021: Battle of the 94’s

Rematch: Earth Song (Amadeus String Quartet) VS Fix (Chris Lane)
As I stumbled back into Chris Lane's country song with suave voice and cool melodies drawing me to encourage to boost its rating, I thought of the previous decided best 93/100 song and whether it was still up to the challenge. As I relistened to Amadeus's song, I realized that it was technically impressive, but … Continue reading Rematch: Earth Song (Amadeus String Quartet) VS Fix (Chris Lane)
Billy Ocean – Caribbean Queen
it reminds me a bit of Billie Jean, and the funk rolls along incredibly well. Excellent work overall. (A)
Peter Bence – The Awesome Piano
Though it uses the infamous, wait for it, four chord progression, it's rather difficult to compare the ebbing and tide with small clean studio sound with a more standard song like PAPERMOON. Pretty decent song overall, though the dynamics do somewhat become predictable half way through before the softer "bridge"/Interlude. (B+) Final rating (2023, two … Continue reading Peter Bence – The Awesome Piano
The Script – Make Up
Though the message is a little cliche, the subtle melody choices raise it above your average pop song in my opinion. (C+)
Ballad of Princess Star – Patrick Stump
though created for the show Star vs the Force of Evil, the main singer of Fall Out Boy shows his versatility within an epic rock ballad without any choruses. The beginning of the rock part is of course the best, even if it abuses common chord progression, especially the lines "Weaving magic like a born … Continue reading Ballad of Princess Star – Patrick Stump
RŮDE – Iris
The repeating hook is chill and cool, but hardly survives repeating listens. (C+) [C A A, C C B, C A A, C C B, (occasional pause) A E E, G D D(E?), E A B G#]
Stellar – El Dorado
It's very short to judge properly, but what is there is quite curious of a song. (B+)
Ratt – Lay it Down
WHAT?!!!! I hear the opening riffs and I'm completely blown away. His singing is also incredibly solid. Who the hell is this guy and why haven't I heard him? Here you go, a very rare perfect score. (100/100, A++)
anson seabra – that’s us
Even though the chorus uses the classic, wait for it, four chord progression, I can take it all. The pain, the pleasure. And I can take it all, for worse or better. Not a bad song -- on par with Hot Air Balloon. (B)
