The most important 6 second drum sample in music history -- yet, is it truly impressive? I'm not sure what happened to Coleman that resulted in him dying in poverty and homeless, however tragic. I suppose the song overall may not have been successful. Such an obscure tune overall, it's just such a shame this … Continue reading Amen, Brother

Brain Damage – Pink Floyd
Floyd avoids the title of the album despite the lyrics clearly stating such, perhaps implying the damage in the song was so severe, they missed the obvious title. This one has a nice dreamy feel close to Comfortably Numb and seems to have a lot of potential. Not bad!
Pink Floyd – Great Gig in the Sky
For a track between Time and Money, this one's surprisingly forgettable. There isn't really much here I feel to talk about, besides asking what it means to have a gig in the sky.
Pink Floyd – On the Run
exactly what is he on the run from? It's not very clear. The weird running beat provides a very curious mood, but it's just not enjoyable enough to directly add to my favorites...
Pink Floyd – Breath
Not sure about the title, but the song trails along just fine. Not that impressive to me as Time or Money, but an already entry to the Dark Side of the Moon. (Not sure what Speak to Me is supposed to do, so I just counted this as the "real" first song of the album).
Screaming Jay Hawkins – I Put a Spell on You
Raw, soulful and powerful, Jay Hawkins puts a spell on me. The blues influences shows the power that someone can do even without modern production techniques. When folks say "they don't make music like they did anymore", I think this song is exactly what they're talking about. (97/100)
Lindsey Stirling – Stars Align
I never found this one to be that impressive even from the start -- does Lindsey really think all the stars aligned with the song? The "ladadada" isn't half bad, but the rest of the song seems a bit dull. (70/100)
Lindsey Stirling – Minimal Beat
Surprisingly fitting its title, Beat has just too little to go on about. Very unfortunate. 65/100
Lindsey Stirling – Moon Trance
It's an admirable effort, with the "nightly" feeling conveyed in a neat manner, but sadly there's nothing more special than that. (71/100)
Lindsey Stirling [Album] Review
I rarely review albums, but I'll make exception for my once-favorite artist. Stirling's first album suffers the issue of presenting too many mediocre songs -- Transcendence fails to meet its title, and Electric Daisy is a massive guilty pleasure. Song of Caged Bird and Spontaneous offer nothing too new. Only Elements and Shadows offer something … Continue reading Lindsey Stirling [Album] Review
