https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F57P9C4SAW4 A very silly song, not Katy's best (see FIREWORK), but it's alright. Lyrics are straightforward although the beat is pretty catchy. This does remind me of Good Time though ("oh whoa whoa oh it's always a Good Time)", although at least it doesn't seem so ridiculously optimistic with tune and theme. The one thing … Continue reading Katy Perry – California Gurls ft. Snoop Dogg

Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now (1978)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgzGwKwLmgM Original review: Hey, Queen's not bad at all. Honestly, most modern rock bands are just like trying to imitate this band. This one in particular is pretty damn good, although it's unclear at all if it is meant to have sexual connotation, especially with "having a good time" along with "I am a sex … Continue reading Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now (1978)
PENTATONIX – REF
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOAQrAWYyFM A Capella once more... this one's sort of interesting. It's about love but "ref" title is a bit unusual. The metaphor with "You made your bed, you know the rest" is not very common, and the rest of the lyrics are straight-forward but not lazy, especially compared to other love songs. Pentatonix has made … Continue reading PENTATONIX – REF
Hurts – Rolling Stone (2015)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqSfotCW8nk Kinda silly how I have the nightcore instead of normal, but whatever. It's a little bit slow. The lyrics are nice, helping compensate for the four chord progression. The lyrics are alluring in that they refer to the alcoholic father and animistic mother, which I'm sure many people can sympathize with.
Endless Love (from The Myth, 2005)
Well, no new songs, but Spotify resuggested this song already in my faves so I might put it to the test. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQmx9SM_PbM This song has a very strong fantasy theme attached to it, and the Chinese style boosts the title of "endless love". The verses are especially deep, when translated the result occurs: "Undo the … Continue reading Endless Love (from The Myth, 2005)
Katy Perry – Firework
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGJuMBdaqIw Firework is powerful but sadly still remains pop. Nevertheless, I think the lyrics are worth to analysis. "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag", the famous lines say. In this song, Katy asserts everybody's potential to thrive. "you just gotta ignite the light, and let it shine. Just own the night, like the … Continue reading Katy Perry – Firework
Elvis Presley – Jailhouse Rock (1957)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj0Rz-uP4Mk Older than most of my songs, but it's got its own funky groove that makes it nice. It's not bad to have a 1950's song to listen to in contrast to the usual mainstream silliness. Everybody let's rock... dancin' to the jailhouse rock 89/100
Coldplay – Princess Of China ft. Rihanna (2012)
I actually added this song to the quick playlist after reviewing, but it’s there as the fourth anyways. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Uw6ZkbsAH8 What... does this song sound like? I couldn't remember when I first saw this title, and upon re-listening it does seem like it's anti-catchy. The first lyrics set the theme: "Once upon a time we fell … Continue reading Coldplay – Princess Of China ft. Rihanna (2012)
Bea Miller – Enemy Fire (2014)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2ZYD3Rv-t4 Tough rock, good beat, not bad lyrics and melody, I'd say this is 3.75/5. "oh oh oh" might be said to be a shortcut to catchyness, but it doesn't feel too annoying in this song.
Celtic Carol – Lindsey Stirling (2011)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jg4sZZaf3Gg Uber cool mix of different Christmas carols combined with a funny music video help give Lindsey Stirling another excellent song. The minor key and strong guitar occasionally playing boost her playing, and allow this Christmas song to stand out against our usual boring stuff.
