Genshin Fan Song – If you suddenly think of me 【如果突然想起我】[ChiliChil]

A little bit sickening sweet to add to my favorite lists, but the effort and creativity is appreciated. Zhongli’s parts are a bit funky for a song of this type (since he keeps getting interrupted). Love the unique gestures though, with telling you to beckon Venti or call him with a phone. Not to Nahida mention flushing away the dookie. (Original Grade: C+ -> raised to B after a few listens)

This song has won a round in a casual contest in the Discord server “Musicord”! It was hosted by the judge taconstuff, with the reward a simple drawing from them (I requested a Sci fi anime guy with glasses — a representation of myself– interacting with Venti forgetting their number).

Taco’s review was: Never played Genshin but i don’t quite think this has anything to do with the game given the lyrics lol. It’s an insanely catchy cute/infectious little tune that surprised me quite a bit. The video adds some kawii bonus points too. (it was such a surprising and silly pick + i liked it a lot)

The other songs and their reviews were:

  1. Mercury Rev – Holes Oh hey i know this band! Yeah still havent got around to this album yet though actually. Maybe i should cause this was nice. Best comparison i can give is the flaming lips. And yes, the trumpets were great
  2. Andrew Bird – Roma Fade This was fun chamber indie pop rock/whatever shenanigans.
  3. Hans Zimmer/Lias Gerrard – And Now We Are Free Expectedly “epic” sounding given its an OST song from Hans zimmer but its not the typical orchestral yada-yada you hear in every movie but a nice fleshed out song with pretty vocals
  4. BIG|BRAVE – The Fable of Subjugation Tense and spoopy drone/post rock(?). Perhaps a bit too slow but I liked it
  5. Sadness – Please These doomers really out here jumping straight to just naming their band Sadness ffs. Ok but yeah this was actually great for me. Kinda gazey, kinda emo, kinda black metal-ish but certainly a vibe
  6. Camellia – Drenched in Air An assault on the senses for sure. Super speedy Japanese EDM for anime zoomers with only the most chronic cases of crippling ADHD diagnoses. It’s neato
  7. Almendra – Ana No Duerme A total 180 from the last song lmao. This time its spanish jammy psych rock. A uhh Cruisin’ through the 60s/70s in a van out on the road type beat
  8. Lost in Kiev – Emersion Instrumental post rock/metal that doesn’t suck?…nice.
  9. Ozzy Osboune – Hellraiser I don’t quite know what to say. It’s Ozzy, you know what you’re getting lol, it’s fun stuff
  10. Jak Progresso – Circle of Stones Very grody and heavy hip hop jamz. Pretty viscous lyrical delivery with a simple but effective backdrop. Music to uhh “cut a bitch” to :duckknife:
  11. Wuhling – Wohin Post hardcore with an airy female vocalist. It was good but i cant quite say it clicked with me just enough
  12. Club Penguin OST – Stealth-PSA HQ missionimpossible_clubpenguin_FinalVersion (2).mp3
  13. Kikuo – 愛して愛して愛して Quirky theatrical jpop miku-core with a flashy video and fun closed captions. It’s not quite my thing but it was very well done
  14. Betelmire – My Mensa Dreams Cute and quaint twee pop to fill the background of waking up tired but no overtired. Slightly overcast but no rain yet, decent temperature, maybe a smidge humid
  15. Estradasphere – Meteorite Showers – A big ol’ mod-podge of musical antics and whiplash. Kinda like walking through a carnival where every booth has a different activity or product. The overall fun/bibbidy-bop aesthetic is there but everything is still all wizzing by

He also said the Runner ups were Sadness and Estradasphere for those curious, Then maybe lost in kiev.

My personal thoughts for Estradasphere was that it seems like a super good version of The Deck, where it’s a little crazy but everything still somehow makes sense in the sense of the big “carnival” idea. Interesting, but probably slightly worse than If You Think of Me. Please by Sadness doesn’t have the same feeling it has on Taco, probably. It feels a bit lost in the ambience and just… laying there. Oh well.
