Koko – The Last Bullet

A reasonably strong metal song, even if slightly repetitive is freshened by the end. The remarkable 300-to-1 like to dislike ratio is unlike anything I have seen ever since Denirse Danse. I tried looking up what the song means, but the translation is obfuscated and the song’s meaning is extremely tricky to derive.

The beginning of the song seems to imply that the singer might have been over achieving, as they were bored, running ahead, and unable to see their competition. However, she rallies them back with a “hello hello” (very catchy hook, by the way). She uses the contrast of a frozen vow to a flame that licked her cheek or touches her fingers. So I think she is getting the ambition and comparing to the coldness of obstacles or depression — everything that day was dyed blue. The ending seems to twist and make it seem that the singer was the one left behind and not her competition — the prayer melted the chains, and now she’s going to melt the last bullet — the frozen bullet — perhaps the final obstacle to lead the way to her goal. What crazy creativity Japanese people have. (B)
