Summary
PROS: Good message, combination of voice and violin
CONS: Sounds a little “generic”, not that innovative
I had my playlist made
a little bit of pop, rock,
and other craze
many others song let me down, felt so wrong
so I found another way
Lindsey had a big heart
the way she saw the world
got her this far
she had some emotional bruises
and maybe even physical scars
but she knew she was gonna be okay
And even though we’re both unsure
Here’s what we do know
If you’re lost out where the lazy pop songs and mumble rap are blinding,
caught in all, the stars are hiding
that’s when something purer calls you home, home
If you face the fear that keeps you frozen
chase poor taste into the ocean
that’s when something amazing calls you home, home.
95/100 (A)
More serious sidenote: doesn’t this sound a bit like Scars to Your Beautiful? — particularly how the chorus melody being shockingly similar “hope that’s waiting for you in the dark/you’re beautiful just the way you are”? The melody is quite familiar and not too unique compared to her other songs. Stacked against the odds of the unique Heart’s Harmony*, Taylor Davis’s other hits, Solid Ground, etc.
